About this Event

When you’ve identified your values and are living by them each day is when you are truly thriving: you’re focused, flourishing and feeling like you can do anything.

It’s a constant balancing act to figure out the values that are most important to you, both personally and professionally, and how to fit them into a busy life full of obligations and not enough time to get everything done. Living an aligned life is fantastic—but it’s not easy!

Join us as we talk with four amazing women who are thriving by living a life with purpose. They’ll share their wisdom, success strategies and stories around determining values, setting goals and living in alignment.

It promises to be an amazing evening. Please join us on March 5 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm and take your first steps toward living an aligned life. Two glasses of wine and heavy appetizers are included with your ticket.

We’ll hear from:

Joanie Parsons, Moderator: Founder of RevelEleven & Parsons + Co

Joanie is founder of Parsons + Co, a PR + Marketing company built on purpose and whose mission is to Grow the Greater Good. With sustainably-minded clients like PCC Community Markets, Fast Penny Spirits, Vermouth Beauty, Naturally Network, among others, she’s a force for living with purpose and has been for more than 20 years. She’s also founder of RevelEleven.

In addition to financial support, the organization and its members have given beyond the check in the form of volunteer support, board participation, and amplifying the messages of its grantee partners. Anna has a BS from Cornell University and a Master of Business Administration from New York University. She resides in Seattle with her husband and two children. She enjoys playing tennis and pretty much all outdoor adventures. She has visited all 50 states and 30 US National Parks.

Emily Pinckney: Program Manager at Breaking Barriers Collaborative Climate Solutions

Emily Pinckney attended Humboldt State University and Duke University and graduated with a degree in Marine Biology and Conservation, and a degree in Wildlife Management. In her academic career, she has done research at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute, Fordham University: Louis Calder Ecological Institute, and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute: Bocas Del Toro. Her areas of study included phycology, human impacts on marine environments, sensory physiology of marine animals, and how climate change is tightly tied to systems of subjugation and oppression.

Her experiences as a queer black woman scientist led her to focus her efforts on educational equity in STEM as well as educating underserved communities on how to navigate around systemic barriers to community-based decision making, particularly within environmental spaces.

She has worked in wildlife spaces such as Seattle Aquarium and Point Defiance zoo and aquarium. Emily Pinckney is the former executive director of 500 Women Scientists, a social justice focused science organization that supports underrepresented folks in STEM. She uses science and community organizing to make policy more equitable and inclusive. She served on Governor Inslee's Environmental Justice task Force, the Sustainable Tacoma Commission, and the WA Build Back Black Alliance. She currently sits on the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency board of directors, and serves on the executive committee of the City of Seattle Green New Deal Oversight Board. She is Vice-President of the Urban League Metropolitan Seattle Young Professionals.

Scott, ensuring their websites meet rigorous performance, compliance, and sustainability standards. She is passionate about the intersection of technology and ethics, proving that websites can be both cutting-edge and aligned with social and environmental responsibility.

When she's not leading Hard Refresh, you can find her kayaking in the Pacific Northwest, hiking with her dog Murphy, or nerding out on the latest advancements in AI and web accessibility.

Yoko Okano: Founding Partner of First Row Partners

Yoko is one of the Founding Partners of First Row Partners, a pre-seed stage venture capital firm based in Seattle and investing across North America. First Row Partners invests in technology that superpowers emerging brand builders, content creators and storytellers in a world transformed with new interaction modalities and AI. In addition to investing in pre-seed startups. Yoko teaches new and upcoming entrepreneurs through the Masters of Science in Entrepreneurship program at the University of Washington.

Before starting First Row, Yoko built a portfolio of 50+ companies as an angel investor through her active participation in angel networks like Grubstakes. Being in the heart of Silicon Valley while at Stanford connected her deeply into the tech sector, including 8 years at Google, working on product operations and partnerships for the launch of Google eBooks (now Google Play), and subsequently as a product lead for startups. With her “professional life,” Yoko loves to think about product-led growth and shortening an end user’s “time to delight.” Personally, she also fosters a deep passion for bringing more founders and funders into the ecosystem and balancing the power imbalance between the two sides of the table through education.
