"THE RAILWAYS OF ABERDEENSHIRE – the way we were" began in the 1960s when Gordon Casely, then a young reporter on the long-dead People’s Journal, took pictures of Aberdeenshire during newspaper duties. In those days, railways were as much part of our landscape as were castles, coast, cottar touns and countryside. His pictures reflect a life that many of us will remember, but which has vanished, sometimes without trace. His tour takes us right across north-east Scotland.
Those who’ve seen his lecture claim that they have also spotted pictures as far away as the Forth Bridge and Kyle of Lochalsh……to which Gordon answers: “It just demonstrates how wide the boundaries of Aberdeenshire actually are”.
Join us at noon in the Main Hall at Fountainhall at the Cross (Albyn Place, formerly Queen's Cross) for a sandwich lunch before the talk.
