About the talk....Lively Minds team is excited to welcome Charlie Hunter to the Lively Minds Group on Tuesday 21 May. He will enlighten us about the nature of mountain rescue in Scotland, the place of the Aberdeen Team and the history of both AMRT and the service as a whole. He will also highlight the main features of our area of the Cairngorms, its challenges, the anatomy of a typical call-out and Team training.
About the speaker...
Charlie Hunter joined the Team in 1973 where he served as Deputy Team Leader, Secretary of Aberdeen Mountain Rescue Association. He also served on the Executive of the then Mountain Rescue Committee of Scotland (now Scottish Mountain Rescue). He is no longer an operational member but continue to serve in a support role as Public Events Coordinator.
Charlie Hunter is currently retired from a career in education from his last position as Rector of Kemnay Academy in Aberdeenshire. Since retirement, he has continued to climb, walk and ski extensively here in Scotland and in the Alps with his wife. The couple have both climbed Kilimanjaro and Mount Kinabalu in Borneo and have spent lots of summers (and winters) in the Dolomites.
Join us at noon in the main hall at Fountainhall at the Cross (Albyn Place, formerly Queen's Cross) for a sandwich lunch before the talk.
