Today’s tour will take us to THE MARAIS DISTRICT. You might say, “But we already know the Marais.” Do you know the ‘upper’ Marais near Saint Paul? Well, today WE’RE GOING TO THE “LOWER” MARAIS. What will we discover, and what stories will we discuss? We’ll start with the magnificent NATIONAL ARCHIVES BUILDING, the memory of our country. We’ll pass by the HÔTEL SALÉ, NOW THE PICASSO MUSEUM. We’ll cross the MARCHÉ DES ENFANTS ROUGES, the oldest market in Paris. We’ll see the location of the prison where Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were imprisoned. And we’ll finish at the CARREAU DU TEMPLE and its history. So, there’s a lot to see in this lesser-known but magnificent corner of the Marais.
