The discussion between Mumbai and London will focus on the parallel histories and contemporary landscape of the Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum and V&A South Kensington. In 1862, the Central and Economic Museum of 1855 in Mumbai was renamed the Victoria and Albert Museum of Bombay. In 1899, the South Kensington Museum of 1857 was renamed as the Victoria & Albert, London. Both museums chart the history of designers and manufacturers in art and design, locally and internationally. The panel will approach these shared histories and future plans through the ceramic collections of both museums & the artists that have been associated with them.
The talk will be held at the Education Center in the BDL Museum Plaza, which can be accessed via the OUT gate of the Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Botanical Udyan and Zoo.
Join us for tea at 3:30 pm
