Greenlight welcomes acclaimed fantasy author Neon Yang (they/them) to Prospect Lefferts Gardens to celebrate their newest book and debut full-length novel, The Genesis of Misery. Twisting together magical powers, high-tech space battles, religious saints, and political machinations in a truly fantastical tale starring a queer and diverse array of pilots, princesses, and prophetic heirs, Yang invites us into the story of Misery Nomaki (she/they), a nobody from a nowhere mining planet. As author Martha Wells puts it: “Come for the giant robot space battles, stay for the fascinating worldbuilding and the heartbreaking insight into the politics of fanaticism and emotional manipulation.” Yang will be joined by a special guest to be announced for an evening of reading, conversation, and Q&A.
