                    Emma Atkinson is a flexible and multi-faceted jazz vocalist and educator in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She is a rising senior, getting her Bachelor of Music at the Irving S. Gilmore School of Music, studying jazz voice. In her community, she performs as a soloist or sideman regularly and manages a voice and piano studio through multiple private music schools in the Kalamazoo area. Emma has participated in the highly regarded Gold Company program, the treble chorus Anima, the WMU Afro Latin Jazz ensemble, and has been featured in the University Jazz Orchestra, where she was a soloist in Kenny Wheeler’s Music for Large and Small Ensembles in 2023. In June 2025, Atkinson made her debut at Carnegie Hall as a soprano in the Octavo Series Chorus. Atkinson has shared the stage with the New York Voices, Peter Eldridge, trumpet player Russ Johnson, and Michael Mayo, to name a few. Currently, she studies under vocalist and pianist, Greg Jasperse, and has studied with pianist, Matthew Fries and vocalist, Liz Townsend.
