The Marvellous Hearts Trio features C.D Lyons original songs, stripped back to acoustic guitar, double bass and violin to accompany C.D's gritty, heartfelt vocals and lyrics.
When C.D Lyons of the renowned Pre War Acoustic Blues duo The Blues Preachers embarked on his new project it was a case of following his heart. The seasoned musician, who has performed at festivals all over Australia, including Byron Bay Bluesfest, the Woodford Folk Festival, the Blue Mountains Music Festival and the Gympie Muster, wrote a bunch of songs that felt like they needed a new home and so The Marvellous Hearts were born.
Their music is grounded in old school blues and traditional folk with flourishes of rock and cosmic country, with songs, which are too relevant today to be labelled as “retro revivalists”
C.D's storytelling takes you on a journey from cradle to grave, through themes of joy and hope, human connection and frailty, politics and environment, addiction and habits of our society - and of course the land of birds.
Carlyn Chen weaves through the lyrics with her violin to help tell their stories with her strings along with Si Costello on double bass forming the foundation.
