For our first Town Hall show of 2025 we have an absolute legend of the comedy world coming to Dewsbury. Alan Davies, star of QI and Jonathan Creek and veteran of the comedy circuit, is our headline act. You read that right, Alan flippin' Davies. Alan started performing comedy in 1988, and in 1991, he was named Time Out's Best Young Comic. He then won the Edinburgh Festival Critics Award for Comedy in 1994. He starred as the lead character in Jonathan Creek from 1997 to 2016. He's probably best known for being the only ever-present guest on QI, which he's been on since 2003. He hosts the super Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled on Dave and has also been a contestant on Taskmaster.
Our opening act is the superb Phil Ellis, an award-winning comedian who has entertained audiences of all ages with his amalgamation of off-beat observational material and physical comedy. Most recently, he was nominated for the prestigious Sky Best Comedy Show at the 2023 Edinburgh Comedy Awards and won The Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality for Phil Ellis’s Excellent Comedy Show. The show was ranked in the top 20 best-reviewed shows of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2023. Phil’s TV appearances include The Russell Howard Hour (Sky), Roast Battle (Comedy Central) and Drunk History: UK (Comedy Central).
With support from Jo Mason (aka "The Yorkshire Wife") and Alan Fiddler. Hosted, as ever, by our very own Graeme Rayner.
