Keanali’iomana’e Bertelmann
Saturday, February 21
Show starts at 6:00 p.m.
Keanali’iomana’e Bertelmann, is a singer and musician from Waimea, Hawaiʻi. Known as Ana B., she was born and raised in Waimea and still lives and works there. She grew up singing with her extended family in the kitchen and the garage, and began writing her own mele when she was in her early 20ʻs. She is a beloved teacher of Hawaiian traditional arts and has worked for years with the next generations to pass along the knowledge embedded in that legacy. She has a deep love for her home, Hawaiʻi and loves to sing about landscapes and the kupa’ai (natives) that live there.
The Asing familiy has been a part of the Hawaiian music scene for generations. Many of these ʻohana members can still be heard sharing their love Hawaiian music with kamaʻāina and malihini alike. Ana is delighted to share the stage with her cousins as they sing for you original compositions as well as traditional mele. Their delightful harmonies are sure to warm the heart and allow the audience to go on a journey with them as they visit these special places through music.
The band will share music from Ana’s debut album as well as mele composed for her home in Waimea. The ʻohana will also share mele that are favored by hula dancers and perpahs some songs that may not have been heard for generations!
