Join Dust Congress and local favorites Baroque Betty LIVE for an evening of folk music and art.Depressive realism pioneers Dust Congress formed in the music town of Denton, Texas and toured the eastern half of the continent before sending members out west to establish a Pacific branch in 2016. Their music has earned praise from Paste Magazine and other industry outlets, but their real accomplishment has been to unite a cult-like following of fellow chasm-glimpsers. Their performance at Art House will take place against a backdrop of found footage from the Prelinger Archive and feature songs from the band’s brand-new LP, “Garbage Time,” (Infinite Ohm Records) which explores our attempts to distract ourselves from the end of the world.
Baroque Betty is a dark, orchestral folk ensemble hailing from Eugene, OR. With lyrics replete with animal and nature imagery, and love lost but not forgotten, the music is reminiscent of a fairy tales more in the fashion of Grimm than Disney, with minimalistic guitar styling and soaring string-laden melodies (string arrangements by Julia Frantz, Alex Abrams, and Corwin Bolt) to accompany them.
