These three local artists each have something to celebrate; Sophie has an upcoming EP, Gia a single launch, and Jett will be performing his first live show!
About the artists:
SOPHIE:
Taking inspiration from incredible Australian artists that she grew up with, Sophie writes music that is unapologetic and fierce. 2022 saw Sophie’s live show reach new heights as she toured with Jaguar Jonze and John Floreani, and was the local support for Odette and Alice Skye. This year after moving back to Australia after some time overseas, she was chosen by Triple J to be the Unearthed act to perform at iconic Australian festival Spilt Milk, a month after she opened up Stonefest, sharing the stage with Bakar and Ballpark Music. Each of her self-produced releases have received airplay and support from Triple J.
As a producer and a songwriter, Sophie has created hits for Australian and international artists. Sophie’s work championing non-male creatives in the music scene led her to be a nominee for Young Australian of the Year for 2024.
GIA RANSOME:
Ranging from hypnotically melancholic to blues driven dive-bar riffs, Gia Ransome’s music is a uniquely powerful entity. Most commonly compared to artists like Lana Del Rey or Alexandra Savior, and drawing influence from indie, rock, psychedelia, and alternative/folk music, her sound is enticingly dark, dramatic and enchanting.
Debuting in March with her single, ‘Boots’, she has wasted no time in 2023, following it up with her psychedelic sophomore single, ‘Crush’, a seven date tour of the Australian east coast, an acoustic EP, 'Winter', and to close the year another energetic indie/rock single, 'Morning Light' on the 1st of December.
Her first release of 2024 is alt/rock single 'Buttercup' on the 23rd of May, with more music to come later in the year.
JETT:
If you love Troye Sivan, Ruel, or you simply have impeccable taste, Jett Blyton very well might be your new favourite artist.
Heralding from Canberra, Australia, his debut single JUN3 landed him a spot on the 2023 triple j Unearthed High Yearbook, and a nomination for Best Independent Debut Release at the MAMA’s. In other words, Jett really cooked on that one.
His debut EP, SLEEP ON THE ALTAR (Deluxe), was described by some as “good” and perhaps even “gay”. Jett, being a homosexualist himself, agrees with this commentary.
Listen now, or live a life unfulfilled!
