We’re super excited to do a duo double Awendaw Green set with our friends The Brown Mountain Lightning Bugs. Hailing from Winston Salem, NC, we met “the Bugs” a couple years ago at Awendaw Green. Their psychedelic folk sound was different enough but also familiar enough to spark some creative collaboration. We had Zack sit in on harmonica for a song or two. And then the next night Zack and Kendra both jammed with us at the “Under the Oaks” music series at the Mt Pleasant Town Center. The next year Rob sat in on their set at Awendaw.
Now the 2 bands are ready for their 4th collaboration in a segued/dual set. The Bugs will kick it off with a few songs as we join them on their songs and then morph into our songs. Basically going from a folk duo to a 6 piece harmonica powered funk [folk?] [psychedelic] rock band.
If you haven’t been to Awendaw Green: you’re missing out. 1000’s of locals travel across multiple bridges on a school night monthly to go and take in the majestic vibe is Eddie White’s weekly music festivals in the woods. There are food and craft vendors there. And it’s also encouraged for patrons to pack a cooler, BYOB, light a fire and just enjoy the vibes. Music starts at 6p. We go on around 7:30p.
