****This Series is being held at a DIFFERENT LOCATION than our main studio! We recommend you bring your own sewing machine, and we do have machines on site you can use as well!****Event Overview
Our HYBRID Beginning sewing series is great for those who don't want to spend 5 hours at our studio, but DO want to know all the tips and tricks for better sewing! You still get the HANDS-ON TIME IN PERSON you need to be comfortable with your sewing, AND you can now learn on your own schedule then PRACTICE HANDS-ON IN PERSON with us in class...and you get full "anytime" access to the videos even after class! Neat!
Two of our classes are already "mostly talking", so we recorded the talking and made more in-class time for DOING! Less time and trips to the studio, with ALL the same info... you can watch at home, the coffee shop, anywhere, anytime! Over and over if you like!
PERFECT for new sewers looking to gain basic skills that can be applied to any sewing project. If you have a sewing machine bring it to class... or use one of ours!
Classes included are:
Sewing Machine Basics: In Person - November 11th @ 5pm
Learn the basic stitches of the machine, proper cleaning techniques, identify the main parts of a machine and how they work, learn how to properly thread your machine for jam-free sewing.
Know Your Tools: Watch at home
Learn about the main tools used in the sewing process, how to use them to your maximum benefit, and what tools work best for specific projects. Perfect for those looking to set up a sewing area in their home without wasting space or blowing the budget! You will need to complete a short, fun online quiz to be ready for hands-on class.
Simple Seams: Watch at home
There's more to a great seam and edge finish than stitching a line and ironing it flat. Learn different seam finishes, how to properly press your seams, and how to get a professional finish every time! You will need to complete a short, fun online quiz to be ready for hands-on class.
Pressing 101: Watch at home
There's "ironing" and then there's PRESSING. Do you know the difference? Learn to get the most out of your iron and board, and what pressing tools to consider when building your sewing tool chest. If you want to take your sewing to the next level of professionalism quickly and easily, this is the class to take! You will need to complete a short, fun online quiz to be ready for hands-on class.
Edge Finishes and Hems: Watch at home
Finished edges give a crisp, well executed look to any project. Learn how to narrow edge hem, blindstitch a hem, and explore some fun finishes! You will need to complete a short, fun online quiz to be ready for hands-on class.
Seams & Edge Finishes and Hems In Person - November 18th @ 5pm (90+ min)
You've watched the videos, learned the WHY behind the techniques, now it's time to do it with your machine! We'll take you through each seam and edge finish from the videos so you solidify the techniques with hands-on practice! We'll supply all the materials, and at the end of class you take your samples with you so you can refer to them later on future projects.
What's Provided
All materials supplied, bring your sewing machine, an empty bobbin, and the manual if you have one! If not, use one of ours!

With these classes you will have the skills to make almost anything!
You will receive confirmation emails for each class 24-48 hours after you have purchased the 5 class package. These confirmations will sign you up for reminder emails for each class, and also allow you to add each class to your calendar on your computer or smart-thingy, which we recommend. So watch for these in your email!
Because this is a special offer and is a group package with a discount, THERE ARE NO SUBSTITUTIONS for classes or dates. If you have an emergency and must miss a class, you MUST CONTACT HISS STUDIO 24 hours in advance so we can reschedule you for the following month.

Are your classes good for Kids?
Our classes are designed for students 14 years or older. We occasionally will teach younger students, if you have a student under the age of 14, PLEASE EMAIL us to discuss options. Thanks!
How do I watch the videos?
When you sign up for the series, we'll email you the video links to watch before the in-person class. Be sure to have watched ALL the videos before the seams and edge finishes classes.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, you can also flash your receipt on your smart-thingy when you arrive.
What is the refund policy?
Classes are non-refundable. We will do our best to accommodate last minute emergencies, but please be respectful of the instructors and fellow students and only reschedule when absolutely necessary. No-shows WITHOUT PRIOR CONTACT BEFORE CLASS for rescheduling will NOT BE RESCHEDULED and your ticket will not be repurposed.
The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
Yes, if you can't make a class or want to buy a class for a friend, that's ok. If you can let us know in advance, that'd be great, if not, make sure you or your friend can reference who bought the ticket so we know it wasn't stolen or hacked.
