Little Sprouts [February Break Nature Activities]

Turn February Break into a nature adventure! Explore a different winter-related theme through a 5-senses garden walk, story-time, a hands-on craft or activity. Little Sprouts is most fun when we can get outdoors, so come prepared to spend some time outside.
Feel free to bring your own snack for story-time!
This class is geared towards preschool age students. Pre-registration is required for supply preparation. Each registration is good for one child and one adult. Adults need to be present to assist children with activities.

Monday 2/16: Indoor Seed Starting

We're preparing for springtime with some indoor seed starting! During this program we will read and learn all about seeds and plant some seeds of our own to grow inside during the cold winter months.
Tuesday 2/17: Wintertime Hike
10:30-11:30am & 1-3pm
Enjoy a winter hike along the Charles! Hiking with children can start small - like this 1/2mile walk along the Charles River right here at Elm Bank. As we take in our surroundings with our 5 senses we will look for special forest treasures, then head back to our classroom for an indoor art project.
Wednesday 2/18: Winter Weather

Learn all about winter weather! Together we will enjoy a story, make a weather-themed craft, and head outside to enjoy a winter walk around the garden.
Thursday 2/19: Animals in Winter
10:30-11:30am & 1-3pm
Not much is growing in the garden during this season, but Elm Bank is still alive with critters! Learn what our animal friends have been up to this winter. We will enjoy a story, do a craft, and take a walk around the garden to look for signs of animals in winter.
Friday 2/20: Simple Science Experiments
10:30-11:30am
Come be a scientist in this Little Sprouts session! We will plant seeds, examine some real plants, and try some simple, playful garden-themed science experiments.
Per session: $12 MHS Members / $20 Nonmembers
