About this Event
Designed specifically for umpires under the age of 18, the Little League 1-Day Youth Umpire Clinic aims to equip youth umpires with the training necessary to become familiar with the basics of umpiring the plate and the bases, empower them to be successful, and encourage them to experience the sport from a new, unique perspective. Instruction will focus on the fundamentals of working the plate and the bases and incorporates hands-on, engaging drills and activities to teach, reinforce, and practice the concepts presented.
For this clinic, umpires under the age of 18 must be registered by their parent and/or legal guardian, and the contact information provided must be that of the parent and/or legal guardian.
Training materials and will be provided for all attending umpires. However, umpires will be responsible for all other travel arrangements, including lodging, breakfast, and dinner, if appropriate. It is suggested that umpires bring all umpire equipment and gear, and umpires may dress as an umpire or wear clothing that allows them to move and participate freely in cage work, drills, and simulations accordingly. Umpires should also bring a glove with them to participate in all planned activities.
As a Little League Umpire, regardless of age, all umpires are reminded to complete a background check on the Umpire Registry for $5.00 in addition to completing the Abuse Awareness Training via USA Baseball and SafeSport. Local leagues, district, and/or Little League Personnel may request umpires to provide a copy of the certificate indicating completion of this Abuse Awareness Training prior to participating.
Completion of the Abuse Awareness Training is free and can be done by following this link: https://usabdevelops.com/page/4824/education. Please click “EDUCATION,” then select “COURSES,” complete the “Abuse Awareness for Adults” + “Enroll” and then “Go to Course.” Be sure to complete the course and download the certificate at the course’s completion to provide whenever requested.
This unique event aims to be a fun and interactive experience for umpires under the age of 18, whether new to the umpiring ranks or with a few years of experience.
