About this Event
We would be delighted to see you at our Little bird book club . We meet on a Thursday of each month in the cafe, to discuss a book that we have read, the ideas behind it, and many other themes and threads that evolve in shared conversation. For our next book club in April we will be discussing two books, Fiction and non-fiction:
Fiction : Trespasses by Louise Kennedy,
“Here is a writer sure-footed emotionally and dexterous linguistically. The novel recreates the 70s world faultlessly—its downbeat mood, its music, its fashion... The writing is witty and mordant. But most importantly, Trespasses seems like a necessary piece of work. Lest we forget what the Troubles really meant”. The Stinging Fly
Non-fiction.: Jerusalem, by Simon Seabag Montefiore
"a gripping account of war, betrayal, torture, fanaticism, feuds, persecution, corruption, hypocrisy and spriituality.... remarkably objective ... reliable and compelling" The Guardian
Tickets include a glass of wine (or tea if preferred) and shared snacks.
Come with / make friends.
