About this Event

Join us in celebrating Latinx Heritage Month with an exciting panel discussion titled Latinas, Literature, and the Legacies We Leave, brought to you by the Women’s National Book Association's Los Angeles Chapter and Women of Color Writers. This event will highlight the storytelling journeys of remarkable Latina women and explore the importance of cultural legacy, publising and storytelling entrepreneurship, and representation in literature.

Panelists:

  • Stephanie Moran Reed – A native Angeleno, proud Mexican-American mompreneur, and co-founder of MiJa Books, a multicultural and multilingual children’s bookstore that amplifies the voices of people of color and marginalized communities. MiJa Books has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, NBC 4’s Today in LA, KTLA 5's LA Unscripted, and Spectrum News 1.
  • Jessica Parra – An LA-based author and lawyer with roots in Guatemala and Cuba, Jessica writes captivating stories about Latinas chasing big dreams and embracing the complexities of family and identity. She’s the author of Rubi Ramos’s Recipe for Success and The Quince Project. When she’s not writing, Jessica enjoys cuddling with her cats and co-piloting at Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge.
