This book group will be meeting on the second Saturday of most months at 6pm.
Great conversations and super nice people! We hope you join us! Come to this one, come to all of them or come every now and then--you are always welcome and wanted here.
We typically meet for around 1.5-2 hours with a short break in the middle. If you haven't read the book, but would like to enjoy nice humans, listen to the discussion and maybe ask some questions...absolutely, come 🙂
Book is not included, but White Rabbit would love for you to use the public library or purchase from an indie! Water and bathrooms are available, and Black Ink will be open for treats or drinks if you so desire--thank you for not bringing in outside food or drink.
It is so helpful if you are able to purchase your ticket in advance--thank you if you are able! If the participation cost ($4.99) is not in your budget, please message us for a link to participate for free, no questions asked. Thanks for checking here or our website for cancellations, it will be posted at least 24 hours in advance.
Book Group Title:
The Girls Who Grew Big by Leila Mottley
Adela Woods is sixteen years old and pregnant. Her parents banish her from her comfortable upbringing in Indiana to her grandmother’s home in the small town of Padua Beach, Florida. When she arrives, Adela meets Emory, who brings her newborn to high school, determined to graduate despite the odds; Simone, mother of four-year-old twins, who weighs her options when she finds herself pregnant again; and the rest of the Girls, a group of outcast young moms who raise their growing brood in the back of Simone’s red truck.
The town thinks the Girls have lost their way, but really they are finding it: looking for love, making and breaking friendships, and navigating the miracle of motherhood and the paradox of girlhood.
Full of heart and life and hope, set against the shifting sands of these friends’ secrets and betrayals, The Girls Who Grew Big confirms Leila Mottley’s promise and offers an explosive new perspective on what it means to be a young woman.
