About this Event
Are you ready to move beyond the headlines and engage in meaningful conversations about race and racism in America?
Join us for Listening 4 Justice, a facilitated online experience designed to foster deep understanding and connection in a warm, friendly, and supportive environment. We'll go beyond surface-level discussions and delve deep into the historical and systemic roots of racism in the United States, providing you with a foundational understanding of this complex and critical issue.
What to Expect:
- A Safe Space for Open Dialogue: We'll create a brave space where you can share your experiences, perspectives, and questions without fear of judgment.
- Deep Listening and Learning: Through facilitated activities, we'll practice truly listening to each other, learning from diverse voices, and challenging our own assumptions.
- Uncover the Hidden History: We'll explore the often-untold stories of how race and racism have shaped our nation, from the legacy of slavery and segregation to the ongoing struggles for equality.
- Celebrate and Center Black Americans: We will honor the resilience, strength, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history and in the present day. This includes amplifying Black voices, perspectives, and leadership in our learning journey.
- Develop a Critical Lens: Gain the tools, knowledge, and conceptual frameworks to analyze the ways racism manifests in our institutions, policies, and everyday interactions. This includes learning practical approaches to understanding complex topics and applying them to real-world situations.
- Connect the Past to the Present: Understand how historical injustices continue to impact communities of color today, and how we can work towards a more just future.
- Builds Bridges of Understanding: We'll explore the complexities of race and identity, fostering empathy and building bridges of understanding across differences.
- Actionable Steps for Change: We'll move beyond awareness to action, resourcing you to contribute to movements for racial healing and cultural justice in your own sphere of influence.
