Join us at the Rory Gallagher Music Library for a fascinating deep dive on the cult record Michael O' Shea by the groundbreaking Irish musician of the same name. Cork City Libraries is delighted to welcome legendary broadcaster, teacher, writer and documentary maker Paul McDermott to introduce the record.
Few words better describe an artist like Michael O'Shea than: singular. The Irish artist was many things; a traveller, a musician, an instrument maker - but it is his sole and unique eponymous album which will be the focus of this Listen Back session with Paul McDermott. Recorded with his self-built instrument, which he dubbed "Mo Chara", the record warps and weaves itself through its 5 tracks, meshing droning fugues and post punk riffs. His travels across Turkey, Banglasdesh and Europe become more apparent the more one listens to this truly singular record.
