Lisen Rylander Löve - tenor saxophone, voice & live electronics
Donovan von Martens - bass & live electronics
Martin Öhman - drums & live electronics
Gothenburg-based saxophonist Lisen Rylander Löve is internationally active in jazz, electronics and experimental music. In 2019, she released her first solo album OCEANS which was praised by both audiences and the press. It is music where the broken meets the beautiful, acoustically meets electronically. Waves of sound; many, different, much. The listener is accompanied by a constant dark undertone where harmony meets disharmony. By mixing acoustic instruments such as saxophone and voice with live electronics, she creates her own unique sound worlds. She makes brave music with nerve, not quite accessible, but welcoming, democratic and rewarding. The album OCEANS was nominated for Manifest 2020.
During several years of artistic work with the utmost fingertip feeling, Lisen has both shown the meaning of the term contemporary jazz but also stretched the definitions and thus consolidated his role as one of our most significant and innovative jazz musicians and composers. She has released several acclaimed records with the quartets The Splendor and Here's To Us and played for twelve years in the electronics group Midaircondo. Lisen is constantly up to date with various collaborations and as a guest musician, in recent years she has toured with, among others, Union Carbide Productions and Richard Barbieri (the band Japan). She is an exploratory musician and artist and in OCEANS she gives as much space to dark beats and samples as to percussion, voice and tenor sax. With her on stage are Martin Öhman (Klabbes Bank and others) and Donovan von Martens (Hannah Tolf band and others) who both color the music with their strongly personal musical expressions.
