In rare and expected circumstances, such as an eclipse, a day momentarily changes to night. However, on this apocalyptic “orange day” in San Francisco, CA, the birds did not sing, the streetlamps never turned off and the sun was never visible. Rather, there was only a dark burnt orange hue as smoke and ash from raging distant fires blocked the sun.
