Liquid Lyrics, Sunshine Coast's most wordy, worldly and worthy spoken word event has reached that point again where our top poets from the heat's throughout the year come together to share their poetic prowess and compete for prize money, paid features, a trophy and the bragging rights of being crowned the '2025 Slam Champion'.We have a full dance card for this final and the finalist poets that have come through this year are world-class.
To allow for full creative expression and choice of topic, there will be no theme for the final.
Poetry Slam Rules:
• 3 minutes / timer starts on the first word
• 1 point deducted for every 30 seconds over over three minutes.
• 1 extra point awarded for memorization
• Any poet going over 5 minutes will be disqualified from the competition
• Original work written within the last 12 months, also never performed at a Liquid Lyrics Poetry Slam
• 5 Judges chosen randomly in the crowd
• The highest score & lowest score removed, with an average of the middle three scores to be added together.
• NO Music or Props
Prizes to be won!
First Place receives:
✩ $600 in warm soft cash
✩ Lifetime Entry to all Liquid Lyrics in 2025 (exluding finals and special events)
✩ A paid 15-minute feature spot at a LL slam or Festival
✩ A a plaque on the Champion's Trophy
Second Place receives:
✩ $300 in warm soft cash
✩ 6 free tickets to Liquid Lyrics in 2026
Encouragment award recipient receives:
✩ $100 in cold hard cash
✩ This recipient will be chosen by slam hosts Nick and Cait
