For many folks, linocuts are their first introduction to block printmaking. Its materials and tools are readily available and affordable in most craft stores. Students can use sharpened blades, called gouges, to carve a design into a block of linoleum. This block can then be inked and printed similarly to a rubber stamp. Don’t be deceived by its accessibility, though! Artists of all levels use this technique for the distinct, bold graphics it creates. In this class, participants will learn some of the best practices for using those tools, materials, and how to transfer an existing image to a block. This class takes place in two sessions. The second session is held on December 17th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM
All materials are provided.
