Join Katcha’s hands-on, creative and very informative workshop, suitable for beginners and those with some experience. You will learn a great deal from this workshop and will gain the confidence and skills to continue printmaking at home.During the tutorial, you will be carefully guided through each stage of the linocut process:
* the various types of lino and how to prepare them
* how to use the carving tools with precision
* cutting techniques and the many different ways of making marks in the lino
* how to plan a design, and different ways to transfer your design onto the lino
* inking the block
* blending colours by creating a gradient roll
* how to get the perfect print every time
* in English, German and other languages if necessary
There will be live demonstrations to follow along and the opportunity to discuss your design ideas and you will receive individual feedback as you work. You may wish to bring some of your own images to work from, however there will be plenty of inspiration at hand to help you plan your design. Everyone will take home their original carvings and mark making block, and their prints. After the workshop, you will also be emailed a short guide to remind you of all the techniques used on the day, and a recommended kit list to get you started on your printmaking journey and let you know where you can order your lino and tools from.
All tools and materials are provided including carving gouges, linoleum, drawing equipment, non-slip mat, inks, rollers, and fabrics to print on as well as tea, coffee and cake!
