About this Event

Join a guided tour with local historian Edward Bennett to learn about Auckland's original Civic Centre projects, the Queen Street River (Waihorotiu), the Strand Arcade and the new Aotea Station under construction as part of the City Rail Link.

Hear about visits to Auckland from 19th century icons – French stage actress Sarah Bernhardt, Russian ballet dancer Anna Pavlova and French artist Paul Gauguin. Learn about the fire which destroyed the Auckland Opera House, and the theft of the White Marble Polar Bear.

This guided tour is organised and provided by Link Alliance/City Rail Link as part of the annual Heritage Festival.
