The KSDA focuses on the swing dance style born in 1930's Harlem from the Black dancers of the Savoy Ballroom, Lindy Hop. If you've attended a beginner drop-in lesson with us, you've done Lindy Hop! Dive into a month of material that progresses every week.Build off the skills covered in the beginner drop-in classes to expand your repertoire and become comfortable with many types of swing dancing movements. Join us for four 45 minute progressive lessons to help you get comfortable with a wide range of material.
Throughout the month this series cover more basic patterns like circles (both 6 and 8 counts), rotation vs linear steps, swing outs, and other movements and turns.
All dancers who have attended more than two beginner drop-in classes are strongly encouraged to attend this progressive Level 1 Swing series.
Series classes meet every Wednesday downstairs at the Laurel Theater from 7:15 - 8:00 pm. Classes are $8 a night ($2 discount for cardholders) and include admission to the dance. Purchase the month of lessons to receive one week free. Local students can request a free benefit card!
