Lindy Hop is the original Swing Dance, created at the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem NY in the late 1920's. In the early 1990's, it made its comeback and now is well regarded throughout the world. This dance is composed of 6 and 8 count rhythms, mixing in the Charleston. The lessons offered will focus the 8-count rhythms first, then add in the Charleston and then six count patterns. You do not need a partner, and it is open to all ages.
Pure Balboa is a dance that came out of the Lindy Hop and is meant for faster paced music, though can be done to slower music. This is an 8-count rhythmed dance done in closed position. This beginner lesson is offered to anyone who wants to give it a go, you do not need a partner, and it is open to all ages!
These lessons are listed in progressive order. Lindy Rhythm is mandatory for anyone who has not taken any Lindy Hop lesson. Then learn the Lindy basics. The Balboa class is for anyone, and the 8:00 class if for those who have a good grasp of the Lindy Hop basics.
6:00-6:30 Lindy Rhythm and Partnering. $20 per person and mandatory for those who have ever had a Lindy Hop lesson.
6:30-7:30: Lindy Hop basics and beyond. $40 per person or $12 drop in.
7:30-8:00: Pure Balboa. $20 per person.
8:00-9:00: Lindy Hop intermediate and beyond. $50 per person or $15 drop in.
