About this Event

The Lincoln Mystery Plays Trust is very pleased to bring you their summer 2022 production.

The Mystery Plays are a historical theatrical experience, presented by a community of local actors under professional direction. With links to Medieval tradition, this once-every-four-years revival has become a much-anticipated highlight of the county’s arts calendar, drawing audiences from around the world.

From July 25 to 30, the 2022 Mystery Plays are the inaugural performance at Lincoln Cathedral’s Dean’s Green and, for a first-time, they’re touring Lincolnshire towns at St Mary’s Church, Horncastle on August 2; St Denys’ Church, Sleaford on August 3; St James Church, Louth on August 4; and All Saints Church, Gainsborough on August 5 & 6.

Taking you on a journey from Creation through to Redemption, via familiar Bible stories and some more wry explorations of what it means to be human, an evening in the company of the Lincoln Mystery Plays has the power to be life-affirming and life-changing and we’re delighted to be sharing it with you.

Performances begin at 7.30pm. We expect a total running time of around 2 hrs 30 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.

PLEASE NOTE this is an outside show in the Deans Garden performance area which is fully-wheelchair accessible.

There is no fixed seating, which allows you to find your own space suited to your needs.

Please ensure you bring your own seats, rugs and blankets. These will not be provided. Seating should be inobtrusive and preferably low-backed.

Being outdoors you are strongly advised to consider warm clothing suitable to the prevailing weather conditions.

Although the acting space is alongside the Cathedral Café, we cannot yet be sure of it being open. You are welcome to bring your own picnics and refreshments.

Gates open at 6.45pm.

No refunds will be given in the event of cancellation due to bad weather. However, transfers will be made where appropriate.

The performance on Saturday, July 30 will be signed with BSL.
