Alex Davis, a native of the Bay Area, began studying piano sixty years ago. His teachers have included James Barbagello, Katrina Krimsky, James Beail, and Naomi Sparrow. In 1991, he co-produced The Bernstein Legacy, an award-winning radio documentary where he spoke about Bernstein's prominence in relation to other composers.
For the last forty years, Alex has had the privilege to work with forty private students a week. His passion is to have students arrive when they're three and nurture them in their playing until they're eighteen and beyond. He also teaches adults. His mission statement for teaching is that music should be accessible to everyone.
For nine years during the AIDS epidemic, Alex dedicated a part of his life as a caregiver. Mr. Davis resides in San Francisco with his husband, Victor Vela, and their wonderful whippet, Elara.
