About this Event
Lilly Ledbetter’s epic fight for equal pay is one of the great American stories. She is outraged when she discovers that the system had been cheating her, paying her close to half of what the men with the same jobs were earning. Lilly fights this injustice to the Supreme Court, the corridors of Congress and eventually The White House. Her tenacity, refusal to submit to inequity, and strong persistent advocacy are lessons for us today as we struggle against new and continuing threats to women’s economic security and autonomy.
Despite decades of progress, women have still have not achieved pay parity. Women continue to earn significantly less than men across industries, and for women of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and mothers, the gap is even wider. This isn’t just about fairness—it’s about economic justice, stability, and opportunity.
PowHer® New York and Women Creating Change (WCC) invite you to a powerful and inspiring evening of advocacy, storytelling, and action as we come together to fight for equal pay for all women. The event will highlight the Pay Equity Movement, celebrate trailblazers like Lilly Ledbetter, and provide practical steps to take action for pay equity.
Join WCC and PowHer and be part of the movement for economic justice for women!
