A night of contemplation on our relationship to time; past, present and future are all on the table in our exploration of this mystery.
About this Event

Doors open: 6:30pm | Takeoff: 7pm | Landing: 11pm

Time, an illusion or our most precious currency?

We navigate through our concepts of life, death, our constant state of impermanence, and our perceptions of past, present and future, in a night of play, wonder, and sonic discovery.

Style & Vibe: TIMELESS - Check out this mood board for inspiration.

The evening will include:

Talk. We open the container by setting the stage for our journey. We will go through the flow of the evening, and share some data drawn from research, education and personal experience with sound and self-inquiry practices, and an introduction to effective techniques for deep and mindful listening as a vehicle toward heightened states of awareness.

Guided Contemplation. An introspective dive into our own creative powers, an opportunity to align and harmonize thoughts, sensations, emotions and intentions. We will gently guide you (and hopefully inspire) into a safe inner space of curiosity, wisdom and play.

Vocal Activation. An invitation to explore the uniqueness of your instrument, as well as the delicate balance between contributing to and receiving from the collective. By simply using your voice, you are moved to examine and experience your innate gravitational pull toward states of harmony and resonance. This practice also offers many physical, mental and emotional benefits, such as activation of the parasympathetic nervous system, self-expression, release, discovery and invocation.

Breathwork. Inspired by Dr. Stanislav Grof's Holotropic technique and an array of other breathing modalities, we will guide you into the system of our life force energy in a gradual crescendo of intensity, set to bring unconscious content into conscious awareness, as well as transcend the chatter of the overthinking “monkey mind” to enter meaningful extraordinary states of contemplation, meditation and wonder. This portion will be driven by electronic rhythms and live drumming.

Sound + Music. We will see-saw between live electronic and acoustic arrangements, including melodic and non-melodic overtone-rich instruments, deep drone portions, and vocal explorations.

Movement. Finding synchronicity with others and embodying insight is crucial to the healing process. This is an opportunity to feel even more fully, shake things up, and let loose. This portion is set to a live original piece.

Circle. An opportunity to share musings, thoughts, feelings and poetics about our individual experiences.

HOW TO PREPARE

Set aside 10-20 minutes and observe what comes up. Perhaps jot your feelings down. Leave room to be surprised - come with curiosity and a willingness to play.
