About this Event
LIKHAAN is a Calgary-based arts and culture festival celebrating the vibrant communities of Filipinx creatives in Calgary and beyond.
In the spirit of similar emergent community gatherings in Toronto and Vancouver, this collaborative project between and will feature Filipinx-Canadian artists engaging in a broad range of disciplines — including literature, visual art, theatre, and music — with a particular emphasis on storytelling and the significance of the written word.
Likha is a Tagalog word that means “to create,” and likhaan means “a place to create in.” This inaugural event aims to honour the act of creation and creativity by highlighting the diversity of Filipinx artistic talent through panels, presentations, workshops, and roundtable discussions scheduled over the course of three days.
Join us for three days of free events, open to the public! Each day, we'll be featuring presentations, panels, and workshops that center around specific themes.
