Defy conventions and get playful at this dual workshop inspired by the Muse of Comedy, Thalia. First, witness acts of grammatical and stylistic defiance in a workshop led by New Zealand teacher of English literaure, Lyall Quelch. We’ll expose unchallenged conventions of “good writing.” Disrupt linguistic tyranny. Subvert language to develop your written voice.
Then, switch to the art workshop led by Something 2 Chew On that explores the awkward, funny, and creative space between tension and flow, where stress turns into curiosity and dissonance becomes...art? Or at least a good laugh. Through a series of playful, hands-on stations, participants will experiment with the push-and-pull of creativity. Expect to sketch to sound, draw with your breath, tug a line into art, and swap and merge contradictory drawings.
No writing or art experience needed.
