Lights Out for Benedict ArnoldFriday, January 9, 2026 | 5:30 PM
Norwich City Hall – 2nd Floor & Exterior
Join America's 250th Norwich CT for a thought-provoking ceremony recognizing the birthday of Norwich’s most infamous native son, Benedict Arnold, born January 14, 1741.
Benedict Arnold’s name has become synonymous with betrayal, but history is rarely that simple. Before his defection to the British, Arnold was one of the Continental Army’s fiercest and most effective generals, playing a critical role in early American victories. His legacy forces us to confront uncomfortable questions about loyalty, ambition, and how history remembers its figures.
The evening will begin inside Norwich City Hall (2nd Floor) with a brief ceremony. Following the program, attendees will move outside as the City Hall holiday lights are ceremonially turned off.
After the ceremony, please join us across the street at La Stella, where we’ll gather for Revolutionary War themed trivia.
