Little-known fact: before I was corrupted by the forces of soul, the blues, and rock & roll, I started out as a classical & jazz musician. Juilliard school, conservatory, the whole deal. If you really tried, you might even find me on a Grammy-winning Jazz album from the 90s. Esoterica.
I won’t bore you with more details. But I’ll be returning to some of my musical roots on Monday October 21st performing at Siren Series Jazz with some excellent local musicians. This project is the brainchild of the awesome vocalists Karon McKinney and Diana Tuffin.
I’m looking forward to singing some tunes associated with some of my favorite singers like Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and Abbey Lincoln. You might even hear one or two of my original songs from back in the day.
Please come! It’s an early one, so if you like an early bedtime you can be home under the covers by 9 pm without missing a note. See you there! ❤️⚡️
