Edmonton-native and longtime audience favourite Juliette Kang returns to the Winspear Centre to perform Marjan Mozetich’s breathtaking violin concerto, Affairs of the Heart, as well as Ravel’s impressive Tzigane. Variations allowed Brahms to “build my stories”, and his stories on a modest chorale (not actually by Haydn) are magnificent, profound, and richly rewarding for both players and audiences. Haydn’s sunny symphony got its nickname “Horn Signal” from the composer’s prominent and unusual use of the horn section, and also features a series of variations featuring orchestral soloists.Prelude
Patrons of this event are invited to attend a prelude presentation before this concert on Friday, November 22nd and Saturday, November 23rd, starting at 6:45 PM in the Upper Circle Lobby (3rd Floor). This talk by D.T. Baker is a fantastic way to learn more about the pieces being performed in your concert.
