What do bivalves really bring to the table? Believe it or not, oysters have lots of taste and a shocking amount of raw talent for stabilizing shorelines, filtering water, sheltering sea life and sustaining Lowcountry livelihoods! As part of Lifelong Learning Talks on Tap, enjoy an oyster shucking demo followed by a panel discussion featuring a variety of aquaculture aficionados — chefs, biologists, farmers, conservationists and more — to help you pry open the shell of your own oyster knowledge!
Tickets are $10 general admission and $5 per Aquarium member; light bites, one drink ticket and one complimentary oyster shucker are included.
Panelists include Chef James London of Chubby Fish, Tom Bierce of Charleston Oyster Farm, Michael Hodges of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources South Carolina Oyster Recycling and Enhancement Program, S.C. Sea Grant Consortium and Dr. Sara McDonald and Kelly Thorvalson of the South Carolina Aquarium.
