About this Event
We are pleased to invite you to attend our Autumn Lifelong Learning Open Day. At this event you will be able to find out more about the Lifelong Learning courses on offer in Languages and Humanities and join in one of our language taster classes.
This event is an ideal opportunity for you to get a flavour of the language or languages you are interested in learning and to talk to our tutors about our language courses. We will also present some of our diverse and exciting new Humanities courses which will be on offer in our autumn programme. Topics will include: Histories and Contexts of Cinema: Titanic and other Ships on Film, Philosophy, Women’s writing through Time, Shipwrecks and Maritime Archaeology and Reflective Art. More courses will be added to the programme throughout the year so if these are not to your taste, join our mailing list to receive all our latest course updates.
The Open Day will take place from 10.00 – 14.00 at our Avenue Campus in Building 65. There will be two sessions for each language (one in the morning which will be repeated in the afternoon) and you can book up to two sessions if you wish to try two different languages. The languages on offer are: Arabic, French, German, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese and Spanish. Due to popular demand, we are offering two Spanish classes. All sessions will be at Beginners level.
From 12:00 to 12:30 there will be a short presentation about our Humanities courses where you can find out about the subjects on offer. Tickets are not required for this presentation and you are welcome to join us for tea or coffee at 11.30 before the presentation starts.
Please bring a packed lunch if you are attending both the morning and afternoon sessions, tea and coffee will be provided in the break.
There will be free parking at the Campus, including parking for blue badge holders. Please refer to our Avenue campus map for further information.
How to Book
You can attend up to two free language classes. To book tickets, please select one language for the morning session from 10:30 to 11:30 and one language for the afternoon session from 12:30 to 13:30.
