Lifeguard Training Course Blended Learning (06/22, 06/29, 06/30) RCC

This class is for Employees of American Pool Management ONLY.

The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over.

Age: Students must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class.

Qualifications: Students must pass a pre-course swimming skills test prior to taking lifeguarding courses. (This is held at the beginning of Day 1) The pre-test consists of:

• 300-yard swim using front crawl or breaststroke
• 2-minute tread using legs only
• Ability to retrieve a 10-lb dive weight from 7 ft deep, surface and swim 20 yds with the weight, using legs only and exit the pool without using a ladder within 100 seconds.

This is a Blended learning course combining both in-person and online coursework for a total time commitment of 19 hours / 30 minutes in-person and 7 hours / 30 minutes of online work.

You will need to bring documentation of completion of the mandatory online sessions to the first day of the class.

This class will be held over the course of four (4) days. You must attend each day to complete training.
