Join Dr. D to learn about lifecycles and food webs. To illustrate, we’ll use King Levy, a real life bearded dragon, and live mealworms. Halfway through, we’ll take a snack break to eat “mealworms” (carrots and grapes). Throughout class, we’ll take exercise breaks to enact adaptive behaviors of bearded dragons (including shedding “skin”!). It will be an active and fun class, covering Common Core concepts. Grownups are welcome to join the class, sit in back and read/play with their phones, or wander the library. The class is ideal for 7 - 10 year olds, but all ages are welcome (and will have fun!). Learners with different cognitive and physical needs are always welcome and encouraged.
Learners should bring a water bottle and dress comfortably for crawling, jumping, running around, and generally being physical. No writing is necessary for this class!
Attend at your own risk! Bearded dragons rarely bite; King Levy has never bitten and handling will be closely supervised, however there is always a risk.
We kindly request a $20 donation per family to cover costs and facilitate future Homeschool with Dr. D classes. In addition to or in lieu of cash, there is a list of needed items families can bring to donate. If you’ve got these things lying around, we can use them! That said, this class is FREE, and no family should be discouraged from coming if they are unable to make a donation.
Limited spots are available, so register early!
