The Library, in conjunction with the Masonic Philosophical Society, invites you to delve into the arena of philosophy by exploring
a new topic every month and inspiring individuals to self-awareness.
Life, The Universe and Everything meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 6:00pm-7:30pm. No registration required. Location: Perrin Room.
February's Discussion Topic:
Do beliefs impact your ability to see the truth?
In April 1944 two men escaped from the Nazi death camp, Auschwitz, with a single dire mission - warn 800,000 Hungarian Jews to be transported to the camp extermination. After a difficult and lengthy escape, these two mens personal experiences in Auschwitz were detailed in a report circulated around the world. Through the 'Vrba-Wexler Report,' it has been estimated these men saved more than 200,000 Budapest Jews from immediate death. Why did 600,000 men, women and children still perish despite the warning? Moreover, why does the modern world not know the names Vrba and Wexler, as we know Oscar Schindler? Freemasonry provides members the tools necessary to discern between harmful beliefs to see the truth with clarity. Join the discussion to learn more about Jonathan Freedland's book 'The Escape Artist,' Freemasonry and how beliefs influence the ability to see the truth.
