CPI SAFETY INTERVENTION - MAPA Training
What is MAPA training?
Management of Actual or Potential Aggression is a behaviour management system. It teaches the skills required so support workers assess, manage and respond to risk behaviour. The focus is on de-escalation, prevention and early intervention. Safe physical intervention options are also taught, to be only used as a last resort.
The programme gives you an effective framework for decision making and problem-solving. You’ll leave the course equipped with the skills and confidence to champion a culture of Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security.
Need to know info:
The course starts at 9.30am - 4.30pm at the Life Plus office on 26-32 Virginia avenue East (OCS building, level 3), Eden Terrace, Auckland.
Certificates are typically valid for 1 year from the date of issue.
Once signed up to the course, you will be made unavailable on Alayacare for the day so that your coordinators can not book you for any shifts.
• The course is paid for by Life Plus, however, if you do not show up or withdraw from the course less than 48 hours you will be responsible for payment of $220.00 for your place in the course (deduction from your wages will be arranged with your coordinator and our accounts team).
There is no parking available, so please come early to ensure that you have enough time to find parking.
What do you need to wear? Comfortable clothing, with closed shoes. There will be physical components as part of the program, so please make sure you will be able to move around comfortably.
Will Lunch be provided? Tea, coffee and fresh water will be provided, but lunch is not included.
What do you need to bring? A Notebook to make extra notes.
Please Note:
• If any participant is experiencing flu like symptoms they should not attend the training. The instructor may ask them to leave the training session for the safety of the group.
• If any participant has an injury that would prevent them from participating in the practical components of the course, please inform your instructor on the day of the course.
