About this Event
Overview
This 10 Week course guides students in discovering their unique visual language by equipping them with essential tools for figure drawing. It builds foundational skills through experimentation with line, form, tone, measurement, and basic anatomy.
Starting with black, white, and grey using charcoal, chalk, and pencil, students gradually develop their skills before introducing color through pens, pencils, and paint. A couple of weeks push students out of their comfort zones by introducing unconventional tools like pen and ink with twigs, brushes, and collage.
A variety of papers, including cartridge, Sugar paper, brown parcel paper, and occasionally newspaper and wallpaper, are used to encourage creativity and freedom in the work. Sessions include short and long poses, with models sometimes using props, fostering a dynamic learning environment for exploring figure drawing and visual expression.
About the Tutor

Her love for teaching deepened while coaching roller skating at The Core rink in Hereford. She later worked as an assistant to renowned film editor Paul Davies, cataloguing his extensive body of work.
Currently, Moira teaches workshops while continuing to pursue her own creative practice. She undertakes independent commissions, including portraiture, collaborates on outdoor art projects, and is currently illustrating her own children’s stories.
