About this Event
Tour Sarasota’s original midcentury modernist neighborhood, where the Sarasota School of Architecture began. Designer and developer Philip Hiss brought ideas from around the world, harnessing the burgeoning talent of those architects who became known as the Sarasota School, to create one of the most important experiments in modern residential modern living in the United States. You will be able to visit both iconic vintage homes, thoughtfully renovated originals, and contemporary examples of Sarasota’s innovative architectural legacy. Interior access to Paul Rudolph’s Umbrella House (1953) is included. Introductory remarks will be offered every 20 minutes and architectural experts will be on hand to interact with visitors.
