District 7 will be hosting a LIDAR operator school in the Knutson Station training room on Wednesday, February 19th, 2025. Class will begin promptly at 08:00 hours and run until 1600 hours.
Supervisor approval is required to attend, and sign-up can be accomplished using the
Eventbrite link below.
Students are encouraged to begin practicing with a LIDAR before class to become familiar
with visual speed estimation. YOU CANNOT MAKE STOPS BASED ONLY ON THE LIDAR!! YOU MUST HAVE ANOTHER REASON TO STOP THE VEHICLE!! Students should get with another certified operator to ensure the device they are practicing with is working properly.
Students must bring a LIDAR and the corresponding operator’s/owner’s manual to class. As
the class date approaches, handout materials will be provided to each student on the roster. Students are encouraged to review the material prior to class, but it is not required. Any handouts that are required to be filled out by the students during class will be provided in a fillable PDF format. It is up to the student to decide if they want to print the handouts prior to class and fill them out by hand or bring their laptop and fill them out electronically.
Either way, students must have access to the material during class.
