Fake news and the spread of disinformation is nothing new, but there is no doubt that the digital age has seen an exponential growth in the spread and the rate at which it travels. So how do we stop it, how do we prevent falling victim to it, and how do we recognize it when we see it? Andrew Edwards, an expert on disinformation, will discuss how to combat it and the effects of technology and how it relates to disinformation, particularly in relation to how disinformation intersects with news across a broad array of topics. In the early 1990s, Andrew Edwards’ company, Renaissance Multimedia, designed and built some of the world’s first websites. He went on to found Technology Leaders in 2004, one of the first consulting companies devoted to digital analytics. Additionally, he is the co-founder and Director of Emeritus of the Digital Analytics Association, the world’s largest organization devoted to the study of customer behavior. Edwards is also the author of Digital is Destroying Everything and Army of Liars.
