LIBERTY BOWL 2022 - (6-6) KANSAS JAYHAWKS v (6-6) ArKANSAS Razorbacks on Wednesday 12-28-2022 at 12:30pm hst on ESPN. The early line on this game is KANSAS +3 and espn gave KU 42.2% chance for the win. Long story short: Watch party in San Diego and Hawaii on Oahu!A bowl drought since 2008 is finally over. All of the current student body was in Grade School when KU won the Orange bowl that year. Unless they were from the Lawrence, the general area or parents were Alumni they have no memory of that game. This is actually quite sad really, but I digress… This years bowl is KU’s 13th appearance which isn’t terrible, but in a P5 conference it kinda is. A strange metric is that Kansas is 6-6 this season and 6-6 in Bowl games over their history in bowl games. AND KU has won five of its last six bowl games, and has not lost a bowl since getting wooped by NC State in the 2003 Tangerine Bowl, the first bowl of the Mangino years. Let us hope that LL first bowl game goes better than Mangino's first bowl game did. You know Mizzou refused to play KU in the Liberty Bowl… Side rant why is the Liberty Bowl in Memphis and not in Philly? Anyone else find that strange? Did they move the Liberty Bell to Tennessee? It’s like the Hawaii Rainbow Bowl being played in IDK like Idaho or something… anyway back on track now… and Fizzou had a 6 million payout for the Liberty Bowl. Instead they opted for the "Gasparilla Bowl". Payout....$1.25 million… hahahaha Mizzou being Mizzou… AssHats.
We all know what Kansas did this year, but now for some history on arKANSAS. They lost 3 of their last 4 games, but they were ranked 19th in the preseason poll. While Arkansas’ 6-6 record does not exactly strike fear into opponents, it maybe should. The Razorbacks lost those four games by 3 points or less, including a 2 pt loss at Texas A&M; for their first loss of the season and a 3-point home loss to #7 LSU in November. The Razorbacks three biggest wins were by double digits over Auburn (41-27), Ole Miss (42-27) and South Carolina (44-30). But they also got spanked by Alabama (49-26) and Mississippi State (40-17). It is no secret, though, that AK can score, which lends plenty of reason to believe their match up with us in this game could be a shootout and I worry about our ability to shoot it out. The Razorbacks also led the SEC with 39 sacks. The pigs have a monster-sized QB who cannot hit the ocean with the wind behind his back, but who will have to be spied (a Defensive set, where one player is called the “spy” to basically cover the QB no matter what play evolves) because I believe that he is bigger than anyone on our team. If we don't man-up on D for this game, frankenpig will run for 100+ yards against KU. We will need to score.… and a lot.… because we are going to get gashed by this guy since our defense is slightly stronger than a wet paper bag. AND… there is the fact that the razorbacks sophomore tailback Raheim Sanders finished the regular season 10th in the nation in rushing. Our run D doesn’t show up and this is over in the first half. This is all troubling and a win in this game would be a HUGE win for KANSAS moving forward. The Piglets are much better than a 6-6 team. Not sure how we got his draw, but as my high school coach used to say get out there and “hit some one in the mouth!” We can do this!
