The Bradford Vision

The vision is to create an urban environment that is distinctive, successful and a great place to live, work and play. The challenges in Bradford, like many inner city areas of the UK, include a young and diverse population within areas of high levels of deprivation. The ultimate idea is to make Bradford a ‘Healthy City’ where our inner-city population experiences an attractive healthy environment.

The aims are:

Put people at the heart of the transformation to create community led interventions and innovative design.

Sustainable mobilty by increasing the options for public transport and active travel by using high-quality urban design and nature-based approaches.

Tree for every child programme to plant 55,000 for all the primary school children that are from a resilient and diverse selection of species.

Healthy travel for school children (School Streets) to improve safety and reduce air pollution levels at school gates.

We seek to deliver:

  • An integrated active travel infrastructure
  • A network of biodiverse habitats
  • A high quality public realm
  • Safer streets
  • More outdoor play space for children
  • Stimulate healthy lifestyle choices
